Cleveland The Florist began in the early 40's as a family based business focused on customer satisfaction. After more than 55 years, the third generation continues to make customer satisfaction a priority. This is accomplished by providing the freshest flowers arranged in unique floral displays by professional floral designers.
Cleveland The Florist has a long and distinguished past. Ulysses (Lee) and Florence Cleveland started in the floral business by selling hybrid cuttings of azaleas and camellias to Van Antwerp's department store. Their first retail location opened in 1948 on Stone Street in Toulminville. This store consisted of a traditional retail floral shop, a seed store and a greenhouse. In 1956, Lease Cleveland, their son, joined the business.
Lease's daughter, Lenae Cleveland Denson, began working for the family's florist business as a teenager. While at college Lenae worked in several large floral shops in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. During this time Lenae also started importing Holland Flowers. Upon returning to Mobile, Lenae began writing a weekly column in the Mobile Register, "Living with Flowers". Lenae expanded into television and created a holiday special as well as her own show, " Lifestyles with Lenae".
Presently Lenae makes frequent television appearances for several of the local area television stations. In 2020, Lenae sold the business to Kelly Singleton. Kelly was born and raised in Mobile. As a young adult, she fell in love with floral design working for Lenae at Cleveland’s. In her 20’s, she traveled and lived all over the country learning new floral design techniques and designing and setting up beautiful weddings in Santa Barbara, Seattle, Chicago, and Los Angeles. These techniques, combined with the wealth of knowledge, passion, and care taken from working for Lenae, puts her in the position of being able to provide unique and interesting design perspectives while maintaining traditional Mobile roots. She is proud and humbled to be able to provide floral services to Mobile and the Gulf Coast.

We are open on Mother's Day (always a Sunday) and maintain extended hours during Valentine's Day Week, and Mother's Day Week. We are closed during the following six national holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas and Valentine’s Day periods During the busy floral weeks of Christmas and Valentine's Day we advise customers to place orders early to receive the best possible selection and service. We do our best to accommodate same day delivery requests during these busy times, however, we cannot guarantee every last minute order due to sheer volumes. We strongly recommend that customers place orders two days prior to each major holiday.

Occasionally, substitutions may be necessary to create your bouquet due to the availability of certain flowers in various parts of the country. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and colour scheme of the arrangement, using flowers of equal value. Additionally, the substitution of certain keepsake items may be necessary due to increased demand, especially during major holidays. In single-flower arrangements, such as an all rose bouquet, or orchids, we will make every attempt to match the flower type but may substitute with another colour.
